Colleges and universities that choose Deaf Services Unlimited for interpreting and captioning services for the Fall 2023 Semester will receive FREE Deaf culture training. This training will equip faculty, staff, and students with a deeper understanding of Deaf culture, enhancing communication and fostering an inclusive campus community.

What Does Our Deaf Culture Training Include?

• Introduction to Deaf Culture: Understanding the history, language, and identity of the Deaf community.
• Effective Communication Strategies: Learning about various communication methods and best practices when interacting with Deaf individuals.
• Accessibility Awareness: Recognizing barriers and creating an accessible environment for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
• Building an Inclusive Environment: Developing cultural competency and fostering a respectful and inclusive campus community.

How Can a School Qualify for Free Deaf Culture Training?

• Complete onboarding with DSU by August 30th, 2023.
• Utilize DSU interpreting or captioning services for at least two full-time classes during the fall 2023 semester.
