Using CART Captioning in Microsoft Teams
How to Enable CART Captioning
- In advance of the date of requested services, create your virtual meeting and join your meeting.
- At the top of the screen select More then Settings then Meeting options from the toolbar.
- On the Meeting options page, scroll to the Audio and Video menu and click on the Provide CART Captions toggle.
- Select Save and close out of the Meeting Options window. This will create a CART caption link.
- Return to this section by selecting More then Settings then Meeting options and scroll to the Audio and Video menu.
- Under Provide CART Captions, an API token link will appear. Select Copy link.
- Paste the link to an email message and send it to your DSU coordinator. If you are unsure of your coordinator’s email, send the link to coordinators@deafservicesunlimited.com.
- Your DSU coordinator will connect this link into the designated Streamtext event for seamless caption use when you log into this virtual meeting for your actual request date.
How to Turn CART Captions On
- Go to your meeting controls and select More actions.
- Select Turn on live captions. CART captions will display.
How to Turn CART Captions Off
- Go to meeting controls and select More actions.
- Select Turn off live captions. CART captions will be removed from your display.
Best Practices for Using CART Captioning
- Speak clearly, at an even pace into your microphone.
- Avoid background noise.
- Allow one person to speak at a time.
